<p>As she danced, Desai began to conceptualise her movements. &#8221;Design is about the expression of lines and shapes and colours and grids, and I wondered what would happen if that grid was internalised.&#8221; Her approach borrows from yoga, she explains: &#8221;When you perform the dance, you experience the alignment of certain joints &#8211; like a yoga posture, which is designed to connect vital points within the body.&#8221; Conceived in this way, suggests Desai, dance and design become two sides of the same coin.</p>
